The first 1911 I bought was because I felt like I had to. I was really getting into guns and really talking to a lot of people about guns. Typically, I was met with the Glock fan boys who advocated Glocks to no end, but the most pressure I felt was from the 1911 loyalist.

If you are new to guns and  are starting to really get into the gun culture you will immediately be overcome by the thick smog of 1911 sanctitude. I love 1911′s and I think they are one of the worlds most beautiful guns, but you can’t help but feel like the 1911 is shoved  down your throat (Glocks are too).

You can’t  say anything bad about a 1911 without being mulled over and spit on by 1911 loyalist while they chant about how John Browning is a genius and the 1911 is a tac driver, or that the 1911 is the Gun of America and so forth and so on.

I understand the history behind the 1911 and I also understand some of it’s strong points, but I by no means believe it is the best gun known to man. So, to you new gun aficionados, don’t feel compelled to jump on the 1911 bandwagon, or any gun bandwagon for that matter. Do your research and familiarizes your self with a multitude of guns so when the time comes you can have your own favorite gun to shove down peoples throats.
