I’ve been crying about getting a SIRT pistol for a while now. Thanks to the good people at F3 Tactical I was able to get my hands on one. The top of the line SIRT Pistol is $439.00. Yes, for the price of a real gun you can get a fake one that shoots lasers. Ok, now start breathing again, because I got my hands on the entry level version for $209 and well, I like it, a lot, well so far.

Dry firing can be painfully boring and monotonous even to the most hard core gun enthusiast.

However, giving a SIRT Pistol to a gun enthusiast is like giving a coloring book or Ipad if you’re fancy, to a little kid so that they don’t bother you while you’re doing things that actually matter in the world. The SIRT kind of sucks you in and before you realize it you’ve shot every inanimate object around you.

The entry level SIRT contains the following:

Introductory Level SIRT System to start pistol diagnostics and high volume training

Plastic slide (as opposed to metal slide of the SIRT 110 Pro and Student)

4 oz lighter than comparable live fire gun (and SIRT 110 Pro)

Dual laser (Red/Red) indoor/low light training pistol with functional features of Glock™ 17/22.

Includes standard sights, one adjustable weight magazine.

Great for indoor training. Works outdoor in limited lighting conditions.

Includes new NLT Intro Training DVD

In my brief time with the SIRT I found the entry level SIRT was more than enough. I plan to spend an extensive amount time with the SIRT Pistol and follow up with an extensive review. Here is the long and short of my initial take on the entry level SIRT Pistol.

Feels Like a Glock 17/22 but not quite, but close enough. Weight difference is negligible. You notice the plastic feel, but this is a training tool (entry level), if you’re ballin get the Top of the line model with the metal slide. I love the adjustable weight of the magazine. If you are used to dry-firing with a real Glock, not having to rack the slide will throw you off a little, but it’s a pleasant surprise. In all the entry level SIRT training pistol is looking promising.

After spending more time with it I will do a full review on my youtube channel.

Recently, I bought an HK p30. Even though they hate me and think I suck I love HK. Don’t let HK fool you, kind of like Cassie and Diddy’s relationship, they may not publicly claim us civilians, but they quietly love us. Why else would they make such awesome guns and let me own them (Sarcasm monday)?

Yes, I just wrote an introductory paragraph that had nothing to do with the subject at hand, which is supposed to be why I fondle my double action / single action guns more than my striker fired guns.

The answer is simple, dry fire practice with a Glock is like trying to have a meaningful conversation with a woman whose entire self worth is determined by instagram likes. It’s simply frustrating. Pull the trigger, rack the slide, reset trigger, pull trigger, rack slide, and repeat. In text it seems simple enough but so does the Ten Commandments and we’ve been struggling with those for years.

However, ever since I got my HKp30 i’ve been dry firing the hell out of that thing. Granted, I am relegated to a double action pull, but if I really want to work on that reset i’ll just rack it, but I figure if I can master the double action pull, the constant action of the Glock, M&P, etc should be a breeze.

To date, I have noticed an improvement in my trigger control when shooting striker fired guns like the Glock and M&P.

As an Urban Gun Enthusiast I am unapologetically a city boy. I eat way too much fast food, have more gadgets than sense , and my only car is a sports car (I need a truck). However, when you add the Gun aspect to Urban life you sometimes find yourself dancing between city boy, operator wannabe, and outdoorsmen. Especially, if you take the training aspect of shooting seriously.

Well, From Nov 30th – Dec 2nd I will be attending Travis Haley’s Dynamic Handgun 1 course. It’s one thing to have leisure range shoes but I thought it time to find range/Course shoes that were a bit more functional and purpose driven. I am a bit of sneaker head so of course I needed something with a little style (Again City Boy Tendencies). Enter the Nike Zoom Meriwether.

The Zoom Meriwethers are part of Nikes ACG (All Condition Gear) Outdoors sub-brand. This boot/shoe has a weather proof nubuk (How’s that for ambiguous euphemisms), a medial waterproof zipper, traditional hiking boot lacing system, beefed up ankle collar padding, TrailFrame sole, and Zoom Air cushion system.

This is basically another lofty attempt on my part at mating function and style in that order. There are better options from a functional stand point, but considering I found these online for $99.99 with free shipping and no Tax I think them a good buy. Besides, until I start backpacking through the Amazon jungle I think these will do just fine. I hope. lol.

I’ll come back and do a follow up on how these held up after The Travis Haley Course. In case you’re wondering, yes, I got them in that color. The brownish/Greenish color will handle the appearance of dirt better, and the highlighter colored Shoe laces to piss of the hardcore operator Trolls.

Just in time for the “Obama Is Going to Take Our Guns and turn them into license plates” era, Smith and Wesson introduces the M&P Pro Series C.O.R.E. Pistols. I love me some M&Ps, but I got to say, It seems like the Pro Series of pistols are getting really busy looking. Especially the C.O.R.E. It’s like someone took some T-Edgers to the back strap just to try to make it look more different from the standard M&P.

Apparently, C.O.R.E. stands for (Competition Optics Ready Equipment) . Ugh, the name sounded cooler before I knew what it meant. Competition Optics Ready Equipment sounds like the name for scuba diving products not a gun. However, I think the idea behind the gun is cool, and the gun looks cool even if a bit too busy.

The idea behind the C.O.R.E. line is a special mounting platform that allows you to mount the optic of your choice. This is very much a competition focused gun (obviously). Though I have done IDPA in the past and have plans to pick it back up, I am not really moved by race guns. I am very much self defense enthusiast oriented when it comes to my obsession with guns so the C.O.R.E. is ok I guess.

Check out the press release here.

I don’t run a weapons mounted light on my CCW because most holsters designed for weapons mounted lights are the size of Ipads and with my keys, knife, spare mag, wallet, and phones there is already too much going on in my pants (That’s what she said).

Well I am pleased to introduce “The X-FER” from Armordillo Concealment. In the world of kydex revolutionary and ground breaking are not words you usually here, but I have to say the folks at Armordillo Concealment are trying to change that with the X-FER.

The X -FER is a minimalistic kydex IWB or AIWB holster for any gun mounted with a Surefire X300/X200. That’s right, it works with any firearm that will mount the Surefire X300/x300. The holster is adjustable for ride height and cant, fully ambidextrous and 100% American Made. Other Models will be made to fit the Stream Light TLR Series of lights. Currently, the The X-FER is going for $54.99 on their website.

I’ll have a video for you guys on my youtube channel this weekend on the X-FER. For now, head over to Monderno.com to check his write up on The X-FER.

I think the Chris Costa ATEi M&P 9 Mashup is an Awesome looking handgun. I would not mind if all polymer guns started going in this direction as far as aesthetics go. But sweet baby Jesus, $1500 for an M&P? You can barely resale a lightly used M&P for $400 dollars these days.

I love the the M&P series pistols. Currently, I am trying to find myself (The Gunner version). I have been a long time Glock Fanboy but I have been cheating on my Glocks with the M&P and now I am torn. The M&P is an excellent platform and improves on a lot of the things Glocks do decently but could do better. This ATEi/Costa mashup is sexy, but $1500 sexy?

Sure, they have done a hell of a lot to this gun, and like I keep saying it looks magnificent, but personally, I can’t say I would pay $1500 for a tricked out M&P. For that Price I could could by an M&P Shield, 9c, and 9. Jumping off my box of hypocrisy, I would pay 3k for a Wilson Combat if I had the money.

I don’t know, I really do like the Chris Costa/ATEi M&P 9 Mashup and if I keep looking at pictures of it I am sure I can find some kind of way of justifying it without feeling like a tool. I have been known to be totally against something only to become its biggest advocate (Apple Products).

What do you think, $1500 for a tricked out M&P make sense to you?

I think I want one now. I’m pathetic. I don’t care. Look at it. Stop Judging me!

I go shooting almost every week, and when I go shoot it’s for hours at a time. I also decided to start taking some training courses along with more shooting competitions. With that being said, I started putting more thought into what I wear on the range, like my shoes.

I figured it made sense to have dedicated shoes that I wear to the shooting range. When you’re doing serious shooting, taking training courses, and shooting competitions you need durable, supportive, and comfortable shoes to get you through. The gold standard for shooters when it comes to foot wear are shoes of a hiking / Outdoor nature like the ones pictured below.

Hiking/Outdoor shoes are excellent for range work, especially in the traction department. They are durable and pretty supportive, but there is just one thing, I don’t really care for them. I wanted something different, something a bit off the beaten path. So, that’s what I did. I looked for a pair of shoes which had all the functional attributes of the hiking/outdoor shoes but with the form I desired.

Enter the Nike Air Speed Turf. I figured if these shoes can withstand the scrambling of Dan Marino than surely the little range work I do in them should be childs play. In short, I love these things. The support is amazing, the traction is more than enough and the comfort level is exceptional. There is some nostalgia at play here. I wanted these shoes back when I was in grade school but never got them. I’ve just started really putting this shoe through the paces so ill have to see how they hold up.

I will do a follow up of how these shoes hold up as I train in them more.

I get a lot of questions about the shirts I wear in my commentary videos on youtube. ENDO Apparel. During the summer time I am a T-Shirt and Jeans kind of guy so I have quite a few T-Shirts. When I came across the shirts over at ENDO Apparel I really took a liking to them.

I am not big on wearing T-shirts that scream I have a gun, I like my “GUN” shirts to have a level of subtly to them. Now, I know there is nothig subtle about a shirt that has a picture of gun on it, or one that says, “RUN GUNS”, but I don’t wear the “KEEP CALM AND CARRY ONE” in pubic too often, but I do wear the, “RUN GUN” shirt with no issues.

The shirts are light weight and the screen print is high quality. I love my ENDO Apparel T-shirts and I wear them quite a bit. They run$25 and come in variety of colors.
