I go shooting almost every week, and when I go shoot it’s for hours at a time. I also decided to start taking some training courses along with  more shooting competitions. With that being said, I started putting more thought into what I wear on the range, like my shoes.

I figured it made sense to have dedicated shoes that I wear to the shooting range. When you’re doing serious shooting, taking training courses, and shooting competitions you need durable, supportive, and comfortable shoes to get you through. The gold standard for shooters when it comes to foot wear are shoes of a hiking / Outdoor nature like the ones pictured below.

Hiking/Outdoor shoes are excellent for range work, especially in the traction department. They are durable and pretty supportive, but there is just one thing, I don’t really care for them. I wanted something different, something a bit off the beaten path. So, that’s what I did. I looked for a pair of shoes which had all the functional attributes of the hiking/outdoor shoes but with the form I desired.

Enter the Nike Air Speed Turf. I figured if these shoes can withstand the scrambling of Dan Marino than surely the little range work I do in them should be childs play. In short, I love these things. The support is amazing, the traction is more than enough and the comfort level is exceptional. There is some nostalgia at play here. I wanted these shoes back when I was in grade school but never got them. I’ve just started really putting this shoe through the paces so ill have to see how they hold up.

I  will do a follow up of how these shoes hold up as I train in them more.
