It’s the second day of shot Show 2018, and I’m at the Mossberg booth signing autographs, shaking hands and taking selfies with the greatest supporters on the planet. While I’m doing this, I’m being taunted by a massive P365 poster in the Sig Sauer booth. After I sign the last autograph and take the final picture, I make a B-Line for the Sig Sauer booth to get my hands on the P365.

Before I continue let me provide some context. I’m a capacity whore. Which is ironic because I love Heckler & Koch (HK) firearms and I’m convinced HK approaches magazine capacity the same way Most exotic supercars approach backseats. They don’t. I, on the other hand, am obsessed with magazine capacity, especially, when it comes to magazine capacity in my carry gun. So, when sig Sauser drops a gun the same size as the Glock 43 and M&p Shield with the capacity of the Glock 26 and HK VP9sk, um, yeah, I’m going to be a little overexcited.

So, like I was saying, I made a B-Line for the Sig Sauer booth to get my hands on this, “Concealed Carry Marvel.” “It looks like the dwarf version of the dig P320” Those were the first thoughts in my mind as Phil Stradder, director of product management opens the back of a display table hiding a solitary P365. “Yeah, there’s no way that thing has a 10 round capacity”. That was the second thought running through my mind as I rudely and shamelessly (blame the only child in me) reach my hand in and grab it before anyone else can.

I drop the magazine to see what number is written on the side of the magazine indicating its capacity and instead of the number 10 it said 12. Taken aback I look at Phil as if he set me up on a blind date and Flora Coquerel walks in instead of the, “she has a nice personality” blind date I was expecting. He quickly explains that it’s the extended Magazine and hands me the ten round which is noticeably shorter than the Flora Coquerel magazine I initially thought was the ten rounder.

With the ten round magazine in the gun, the P365 is very much in the same space as the G43 and m&P Shield. Which for a self-proclaimed capacity whore is mind-blowing. The gun felt phenomenal in my hand, the grip angle was perfection, and the trigger was laughably good. That is when I dry fired it. I’ve learned that a gun’s trigger can change dramatically from Dry fire to live fire. Therein lies the issue I have with the P365.

I honestly thought it was just going to be another gimmicky (Tactical Dj Khalid we tha best) firearm that will quickly fade to black, but dammit this gun looks so promising it’s terrifying. I haven’t fired a shot, and already I’m in love with it, which makes me scared that the P365 might suck. I’m scared I’ll get it out to the range, shoot it and watch all the potential the gun Had when I first handled it go flying right out the window. So I pray to sweet Baby Jesus that when I get my hands on the P365 and shoot it that it doesn’t suck, my Hype Beast Tactical heart can’t handle such disappointment.
