No one likes an asshole, especially an asshole with a rifle and a camera. I try not to bait the police, I rather not have them in my life beyond a personal relationship. However, rights are rights, and as Americans we have a Second Amendment right to bear arms, which unless you’ve been asleep for the last two years I agree with.

Personally, I think open carry should be allowed in a every state. I don’t and probably never will open carry, then again, I said I would never buy anything Apple, now I  have a mac book, two iPads, and an iMac. I have my own reasons for not wanting to open carry.  I will talk about these reasons in another video, but to get an idea see this video.

Since I have  been doing this youtube thing, there have been a number of people who have engaged in open carry demonstrations with their rifles or handguns out in all their glory. I am all for the peaceful demonstration of our right to bear arms. Unfortunately, too often people only get to see what bad people with firearms look like, so open carry demonstration are great ways to show what good people with guns look like.

rifle1_s640x427 (1-2)What I am not a fan of is baiting police,  recording it and then being a dick about the encounter. You have a second amendment right to bear arms, not to be a dick head. Not everyone is comfortable with open carry, especially people who are not comfortable with guns, that doesn’t mean you throw it in their face by posturing and being rude.

Carry your gun and if you get stopped, be polite and respectful but not to the point of giving up your rights. Cops have a job to do and they’re going to do it, there are polite ways to deny a cop from intruding on your rights without looking like an Internet legal commando looking for attention.

If I decided to go to the mall on a Saturday and saw a store attendant at the apple store open carrying a Blackhawk, in a raven concealment holster I would be a little surprised and I’m into guns, so don’t be too surprised when the cops get called because you’re walking down Santa Monica boulevard with an SKS slung over your shoulder.

They aren’t used to seeing guns in public and it scares them. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it if you live in an open carry state, but understand the environment in which you are doing it and be respectful, but never give up your rights because of someones particularized sensibility.

Like I said before, the second amendment gives us a right to bear arms, not to be a jackass.
