Just in time for the “Obama Is Going to Take Our Guns and turn them into license plates” era, Smith and  Wesson introduces the M&P Pro Series C.O.R.E. Pistols. I love me some M&Ps, but I got to say, It seems like the Pro Series of pistols are getting really busy looking. Especially the C.O.R.E.  It’s like someone took some T-Edgers to the back strap just to try to make it look more different from the standard M&P.

Apparently, C.O.R.E. stands for (Competition Optics Ready Equipment) . Ugh, the name sounded cooler before I knew what it meant. Competition Optics Ready Equipment sounds like the name for  scuba diving products not a gun.  However, I think the idea behind the gun is cool, and the gun looks cool even if a bit too busy.

The idea behind the C.O.R.E. line is a special mounting platform that allows you to mount the optic of your choice. This is very much a competition focused gun (obviously). Though I have done IDPA in the past and have plans to pick it back up, I am not really moved by race guns. I am very much self defense enthusiast oriented when it comes to my obsession with guns so the C.O.R.E. is ok I guess.

Check out the press release here.
