2A Community Generates $1 Billion+ for Conservation Fund

To hear some in the mainstream media tell it, the Second Amendment community is a scourge on the American cultural landscape that we would be much better off without.

This is far from the truth, of course, and a new report in Guns.com highlighted the benefits of supporting our proud sporting traditions. Thanks to the patronage of law-abiding gun owners, over $1 billion in excise tax dollars from firearm and ammunition sales is earmarked for the public good in the coming months.

Funding is based largely on matching federal grants for wildlife restoration projects

Across the nation, wildlife conservation and hunter education programs, as well as public shooting ranges, will benefit from the latest installment of the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Program.

Established in 1937, the initiative thus far raised over $31 billion to support outdoor efforts. The 2026 funds are to be spread nationwide, including $38.5 million for Texas, $35.5 million for Alaska, and $26.8 million for California.

States receive funds based on the number of hunting licenses sold, which explains why Alaska, with a relatively small population, receives more money than crowded California.

2A community is the bedrock for wildlife conservation

Far from being enemies of wildlife and the great American outdoors, the sporting public wholeheartedly supports preserving our fine traditions. Through Pittman-Robertson, the community annually gives back and protects the nation’s legacy for future generations.

Leaders some 90 years ago recognized that wildlife populations were shrinking, and they set out to establish a system in which those who enjoy the great outdoors fund its preservation.

In its current form, the law covers only mammals and birds. Some advocates believe it should be expanded to benefit alligators, turtles, and bullfrogs.

Pittman-Robertson initially did not designate specific wildlife for funding, but that designation was modified in 1956.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
