You must hand it to Gator’s Custom Guns in Washington state’s Cowlitz County. The business puts its money where its mouth is and vigorously defends Second Amendment freedoms.
All the way to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
The plaintiffs challenged Washington’s arbitrary ban on ammunition magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. Attorneys argued before the Washington Supreme Court that the ban contradicts both the state and the U.S. constitutions.
State Supreme Court rejected arguments against standard-capacity magazine ban
The court did not agree, leading to the latest action from Gator’s. Justice Charles Johnson wrote for the state Supreme Court majority.
“By restricting only magazines of a capacity greater than 10, the statute effectively regulates the maximum capacity of magazines, leaving the weapon fully functional for its intended purpose,” Johnson said then. “Indeed, we can safely say that individuals are still able to exercise the core right to bear arms when they are limited to purchasing magazines with a capacity of 10 or fewer.”
Now the wait begins to determine if the Supreme Court will hear the case
This setback led Gator’s to file a petition before the U.S. Supreme Court asking justices to finally determine whether magazines are “arms” protected by the Second Amendment.
Petitioners declared that “if this Court does not step in and stop the piecemeal removal of integral firearm components from the scope of the Second Amendment’s plain text, soon neither the piece nor the whole will be left with any constitutional protection at all.”
That, of course, is the end game for anti-gunners.
They know that the Second Amendment blocks their path to an outright ban on all firearms. Instead, they whittle away at the right to keep and bear arms until it is meaningless.
After all, without ammunition, firearms are little more than curiosity pieces.
