Firearm industry heavyweights heaped praise on Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) for signing a critical protection for Second Amendment rights into law last week.

Senate Bill 500 explicitly bans Oklahoma agencies and municipalities from conducting business with any corporations that discriminate against the weapons industry.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the National Rifle Association (NRA) celebrated the passage of the FIND Act, which now protects the constitutionally mandated sector.

NSSF noted lawmakers’ duty to protect constitutional rights

The NSSF’s Darren LaSorte congratulated Stitt on a wise decision to protect a vital national industry.

“With his signature, Governor Stitt made clear it is the government’s responsibility to protect the firearm industry from sinister corporate efforts to starve it of essential services such as banking, payment processing, software, and insurance,” LaSorte proclaimed. “He appreciates our status as the only constitutionally protected industry in America.”

Stitt drew a line in the sand against corporate interference with the Second Amendment

Likewise, the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) positively noted Stitt’s signature in a press release.

“NRA thanks Gov. Stitt, all the legislators who advanced this critical legislation, and all NRA members and fellow Second Amendment advocates who took action in support of this bill during this year’s legislative session,” the nation’s largest gun rights organization declared.

As for the governor himself, Stitt said he “was proud to sign SB 500 into law, because Oklahoma will always defend the right to bear arms.”

The law specifically mandates that all corporations looking to do business with state and local entities with contracts valued at $100,000 or more certify that they are not engaged in discrimination concerning the weapons industry.

Straightforward and timely. Now it’s time to make that policy nationwide, and that depends on the White House and Congress acting.
