Chicago’s crime dilemma has been in the national spotlight for weeks, and an explosive incident early Sunday morning is a stark reminder of just how dangerous the Windy City can be.
A concealed carry holder in the South Shore neighborhood came face-to-face with two alleged car thieves just after 7 a.m. Not only did the suspects allegedly commandeer his blue 2023 Acura, but they then attempted to run him over.

The presence of a loaded firearm and a courageous individual again saved the day
The intended victim was a concealed carry holder who dramatically rose to the occasion. He fired his handgun in self-defense, striking one of his alleged attackers in the lower back.
That, of course, ended the assault, and the two suspects ran away as fast as they could. The wounded party somehow managed to get to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was rushed into surgery, reportedly in critical condition.

Chicago Police investigators converged on the scene and recovered three shell casings. The concealed carry holder is cooperating with authorities, and no charges have been filed.
No injuries were reported to the man who defended himself.
The Second Amendment is a multifaceted gift handed down through generations of Americans by the Founding Fathers. Of course, its primary function is to ensure that an oppressive government can be challenged, as the colonists rose against the British Empire.
Then there’s hunting and sport shooting. Doubtlessly, time-honored traditions that are also supported by the right to keep and bear arms.
Another priceless benefit of the Second Amendment is the freedom to defend oneself, loved ones, and property from violent criminals. Without this right, other liberties and benefits may quickly become meaningless.
