A Raleigh resident got the fright of a lifetime late Tuesday night when a suspect allegedly kicked in his door on the southeast side of the city. Tim Johnson was home with his wife and their niece when a loud racket erupted from the front of the residence.
They were getting ready for bed when a stranger burst through the front door after a round of loud banging.

Johnson told investigators that he bolted to get his firearm after the man burst through the door. The intruder allegedly rushed the homeowner, and that’s when he fired, hitting his target with at least one round.
Johnson’s wife, Tanya, called 911, and the family waited for authorities in the aftermath of the horrific encounter. Authorities arrived and found the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Cristian Beasley, suffering from a bullet wound.
The alleged intruder was transported to a local hospital and faces a bevy of charges upon release. The violent break-in heavily damaged the Johnson home, though no items were taken.
An apparent wave of attempted home invasions ended in gunfire
Investigators later learned that a neighbor, Franklin Brown, experienced a similar attack on his home. A suspect is believed to have gotten inside and ripped a bathroom sink from the wall for reasons unknown.
Other neighbors also reported break-in attempts, suggesting a spree of attacks.
Raleigh authorities announced that no charges are pending against Johnson, as evidence indicates he acted in self-defense and to protect his family.
As for Beasley, it appears to possibly be another case of a mental health episode turning violent. Going house-to-house kicking doors off their frames is a great way to familiarize oneself with the Second Amendment, as the suspect learned the hard way.
