It’s a remarkable thing that we still regularly get reports out of Texas that an individual or group decided it was a good idea to invade a person’s home and threaten their life and property. It wasn’t.
One such mistaken party nearly paid for his miscalculation with his life early Tuesday morning.
At least two suspects allegedly attempted to force their way into the home
It was about 1:20 a.m. in Galena Park when Houston Police Department (HPD) investigators believe the attempted home invasion unfolded. Two men allegedly tried to force their way inside only to be met by the courageous homeowner and a hail of gunfire.
The intended victim was also struck, but his wound was not severe. HPD said that he drove himself almost two miles to a fire station for treatment, and he is now listed in stable condition.
As for the suspects, one of them ran to a home about two blocks away from the shooting scene and requested help. Law enforcement was called, and the individual was treated for injuries that were not detailed.
The manhunt for a second suspect continues
A second suspect fled the scene, most likely in a vehicle, and investigators are currently looking for him. They are also trying to determine if a link existed between the suspects and the target before Tuesday morning’s violent encounter.
What is certain is that the resident might not have survived if he had not been armed and ready in the early morning hours. There is simply no defense that compares to the one provided by our Second Amendment rights when confronted by an armed and dangerous criminal.

After all, when gun rights opponents want you to turn tail and run or call a “quality of life team” to your emergency, the Bill of Rights says otherwise.
