Anti-2A Lawmakers Push to Restore Hated NFA Tax

The federal budget signed on July 4 this year stripped the dreaded $200 tax on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and other weapons under the National Firearms Act (NFA). This long-overdue correction was greeted with appreciation by the Second Amendment community and abject fury by gun rights opponents.

Now, a group of lawmakers in both the U.S. Senate and House introduced the Medicare Investment and Gun Violence Prevention Act to restore the infringement.

This motley gathering blasted the “horrific gun tax cuts” and promised to use money gathered from the shooting public to fund Medicare. It is just another sleight of hand by those who want to erase the right to keep and bear arms.

Bill would restore $200 tax on NFA items

One of the supporters of this monstrosity is Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL). Despite hailing from a state that is solidly in the Second Amendment camp, the lawmaker blasted the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Frost declared that it “makes our communities less safe by subsidizing silencers and sawed-off shotguns, weapons that make mass shootings deadlier and harder to stop.”

Then the representative veered even further into fantasy land.

Anti-gunners are determined not to let facts get in the way of a talking point

“At a time when our country has seen more mass shootings than days in the year…this legislation reverses these tax cuts and puts people’s health, safety, and well-being above the profits of the gun industry,” Frost claimed.

So, using his math, we quickly conclude that there will have been more than 350 mass shootings in the U.S. in 2025.

The Northeastern University database thoroughly discredits that wild assertion. This measure, in conjunction with the Associated Press and USA Today, recognizes 17 such incidents on American soil in 2025, three of which did not involve guns.

Not more than 350.

But Frost and his congressional cronies don’t care about the truth. They want to demonize gun owners and burden them with arbitrary taxes and regulations to slowly strangle 2A rights out of existence.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
