Make no mistake: the blueprint established by California’s anti-Second Amendment regime will be imposed on the entire nation if its supporters prevail.
Thankfully, at least for now, the damage wrought by the Golden State’s powerful gun rights opponents is limited to within its own borders. For now.
Lawmakers attacked gun rights by going after parts and accessories
The state’s latest assault on the Bill of Rights targets firearm barrels and so-called “ghost guns.” Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the gun barrel restrictions on October 10, 2025, and the stipulations are now in place.
California is amid an illogical crackdown on gun barrel sales. To purchase such an item, an individual must use a licensed firearms dealer, and that dealer must conduct a background check.
Further, to consummate an online purchase of a gun barrel, the seller must “ship the barrel to a licensed firearms dealer in California to complete the in-person transaction and final delivery.”
A five-dollar fee is also tacked on for good measure.
There will undoubtedly be a long legal battle over California’s latest 2A infringements
California also created a “new criminal offense” for “unlawful distribution of digital firearm manufacturing code to unlicensed individuals” and a “new criminal offense and civil cause of action for facilitating, or causing another person to engage in, the unlawful manufacture of firearms.”
State Attorney General Rob Bonta (D), already under fire for his office’s utter disregard for Second Amendment rights, spent much of 2025 targeting so-called “ghost guns.”
The centuries-old practice of manufacturing weapons at home is now modernized through 3-D printing technology, and this is progress that anti-gunners desperately want to reverse.
The overarching goal of California’s gun control regime is to create a byzantine network of laws and regulations that are nearly impossible to navigate. Gun rights would suffer death by legal strangulation slowly over time.
