Virginia Proposal Could Harshly Impact Small Gun Shops

The newly elected anti-Second Amendment regime in Virginia had not even taken office before the latest attack on gun rights emerged. Governor-Elect Abigail Spanberger (D) will not be sworn in until January 17, but a new proposal in the commonwealth should find immediate favor with the state’s leadership.

House Bill 21 calls for the enactment of murky standards of conduct for members of the weapons industry. If passed, shops that are already heavily regulated will face even more scrutiny, as the proposal states.

The heavily regulated gun industry may be subject to new, arbitrary ‘standards’ in Virginia

“A firearm industry member, by conduct unlawful in itself or unreasonable under all the circumstances, may not knowingly or recklessly create, maintain, or contribute to a public nuisance through the sale, manufacture, importing, or marketing of a firearm-related product,” the recently introduced measure declared. “A firearm industry member shall establish and implement reasonable controls regarding the manufacture, sale, distribution, use, and marketing of the firearm industry member’s firearm-related products.”

Again, federal law already heavily regulates these businesses, and they are subject to inspection and severe penalties if not in compliance.

Gun owners in Virginia can expect a wave of attacks in 2026

Virginia’s re-energized anti-gun lobby is foaming at the mouth to pass more infringements on the right to keep and bear arms. House Bill 21 and many others like it will undoubtedly flood the state legislature with a compliant governor taking office.

The bill’s underlying goal is to target the firearms industry through litigation and civil liability. Despite decades-old federal law protecting 2A businesses from frivolous lawfare, gun rights opponents continually attempt to work around it.

This should be an eventful year for Virginia’s Second Amendment community, and gun rights organizations are geared up for the coming battle to protect our freedoms.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
