A Florida woman is very grateful today that her husband is not only a lawful gun owner, but he also dared to use that weapon to save her from an alleged kidnapping attempt.
The frightening incident exploded in Bradenton on New Year’s Day. It began with the simple act of a woman walking her dog just after midnight and ended with a fatality.
Even walking the dog near the house was not safe for one Florida woman
Manatee County Sheriff’s officials reported that Nicholas Palomo approached the woman who was outdoors with the family pet. He was a 36-year-old felon who was previously incarcerated for kidnapping and other offenses.
The woman managed to escape and run into her home, where she alerted her husband to the imminent threat. He retrieved a firearm and went outside to investigate.

That’s when Palomo reportedly approached the armed husband, who responded by firing a single shot. It was enough.
Responding officers found the suspect on the driveway, and he did not survive his injuries. Investigators believe Palomo was possibly under the influence of some unknown substance, but this was not quickly confirmed.
Either way, the convicted felon apparently attempted to kidnap an innocent woman while she walked the dog. When she retreated, he allegedly remained before approaching her husband, with fatal consequences.
The deadly confrontation occurred in Florida, meaning the man who defended his family would get a fair shake from authorities. Later in the month, the state attorney general’s office announced that he indeed would not face charges.
