One of the ironies of the Second Amendment is that gun rights opponents think nothing of creating artificial “gun-free” zones that are wide open for violent criminals. Thankfully for New Hampshire residents, a push is underway to end this self-defense loophole.
The State House passed a campus carry bill this week by a margin of 188-165.
If it becomes law, HB 1793 would remove the ability of public university and college administrators in the state to prohibit weapons on campus.
Anti-gunners think nothing of young adults being able to vote and even fight in foreign wars
State Rep. Sam Farrington (R) defended the Second Amendment rights of young adults to fully exercise their Constitutional freedoms while pursuing higher education.
“We in New Hampshire have made it clear: self-defense is not a privilege, it is a natural right, and natural rights are not given by governments. They are granted by God alone,” Farrington declared. “We hear college students are too drunk, they’re too immature, they’re too young to carry a firearm. My question is, how can we allow them to vote, then? And how do we let them fight in a foreign war?”
Bill’s sponsor also happens to be a college student
As a current college student and state representative, Farrington is certainly qualified to understand the dangers of being a disarmed young adult. He correctly added that these upstanding citizens deserve “equal protection under the law.”
Another irony is that New Hampshire is a constitutional carry state which respects the right to possess weapons for self-defense outside of the home. And the obvious question is why college leaders are allowed to circumvent state law and the will of the people by declaring their campuses as “gun-free” zones.
With New Hampshire’s strong sporting tradition and respect for gun rights, the progress of HB 1793 will be of interest to Second Amendment supporters.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
