A Seattle man found himself fighting for his life Thursday evening when a suspect allegedly forced his way into an apartment.
The call went into the Seattle Police Department at about 6:30 p.m., and officers arrived at the residence to find the aftermath of a violent and chaotic encounter.

Investigators determined that a 33-year-old man allegedly used force to enter his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. Once inside, he struggled with his 27-year-old apparent replacement, and the current boyfriend reportedly drew his weapon in self-defense and fired.
The ex was struck once in the chest, and at last report, he was listed in critical condition at a Washington hospital.
Police investigators questioned the younger man and subsequently released him from custody. While there has been no official announcement, it is likely that he will not face legal consequences if the facts as presented hold up to scrutiny.
Washington is on the short list of states where gun rights are under severe threat, but it still recognizes the freedom of law-abiding citizens to resort to deadly force when under imminent threat.
