Connecticut Lawmakers Advance Proposed Glock Ban

No reasonable person wants to ban automobiles because some people drive while intoxicated. That’s because operating a vehicle while under the influence is already illegal, and it would be foolish to punish manufacturers for bad actions by third parties.

However, that’s exactly the approach some Connecticut lawmakers now take to the Second Amendment.

The state’s House Judiciary Committee advanced a proposal last week to prohibit so-called “convertible pistols” that is squarely aimed at Glock handguns and similar legal products.

Anti-gunners want to prohibit a commonly owned handgun

The National Rifle Association (NRA) explained the nuts and bolts of the controversial proposal.

“HB 5043 bans the future manufacture, sale, and importation of many commonly owned handguns in Connecticut, and doing so would result in a Class D felony,” the NRA warned. “It is already illegal to convert legal firearms into fully automatic. This legislation targets law-abiding manufacturers, dealers, and residents rather than individuals performing illegal modifications on otherwise basic platforms.”

Only upstanding citizens will be affected by the proposal if it becomes law

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) champions this misguided legislation.

Along with the potential felony charge for owning one of these ubiquitous pistols, violations could result in a sentence of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

It is well established that criminals do not care one whit if the law prohibits them from doing an act. Lawmakers should target those who commit crimes by using so-called “Glock switches” to modify a legal firearm, which is already banned.

Now, like their California cohorts, Connecticut’s anti-gunners want to make an entire line of weapons illegal to possess. The only people who stand to be affected are law-abiding citizens in a state that systematically suppresses Second Amendment rights.

As gubernatorial candidate Betsy McCaughey (R) observed, the ones who should be punished will not submit to the law. Instead, it results in “more bureaucracy” and “more costs” with “no impact on crime.”

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
