Canada’s ‘Buyback’ Ends With a Whimper, Now Comes Confiscation

The March 31 deadline imposed by Canadian anti-gunners for gun owners to tell the government about what firearms they own in preparation for confiscation sailed by last week. And the results could not be clearer.

Embarrassingly few of the roughly 2,500 types of these popular and now-banned semi-automatic weapons were registered with authorities. Doing so would mean the owner could expect a federal check to turn over their firearms.

The national compliance rate? Try 2.5%.

Gun owners almost unanimously reject ‘buyback’ of something the government never owned

The nearly universal rejection of the Canadian government’s overreach would be laughable if it were not so serious. Millions of gun owners simply said “no,” we will not sheepishly hand over our firearms.

The serious phase comes now. Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree recently confirmed in Parliament that authorities will move on to the confiscation phase “throughout the spring and summer.”

Officials will soon be going door to door

Off-duty and retired personnel will be called in for the national gun grab. And as Public Safety Canada warned, “Participation in the compensation program is voluntary, but compliance with the law is not.”

In other words, law-abiding citizens may choose to accept the government checks in this “voluntary” buyback, but officials will come after their guns no matter what.

And don’t think for one moment that their American counterparts are not watching Ottawa’s scheme unfold.

Public Safety Canada now trumpets on its website that all gun shops and individual owners “must safely dispose of or permanently deactivate their assault-style firearms before the amnesty period ends on October 30, 2026.”

That’s for the overwhelming majority of gun owners who flatly rejected selling their fundamental freedoms for thirty pieces of silver. How they react when the Royal Mounted Police come knocking will be most telling.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
