There’s good news and there’s better news to share on the Second Amendment front.

An unidentified Raleigh, North Carolina, man came upon a horrific scene just before 11 a.m. Tuesday in his neighborhood. He witnessed a suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Emmanuel Graham, allegedly attacking another man with an ax.

The suspect and victim were reportedly in a domestic relationship and got into a verbal argument before it turned physical. A witness told local news that the clearly wounded man was chased by an attacker with “a pole and an ax.”

The good neighbor exited his vehicle and ordered the alleged attacker to stop. He declined, and that’s when the man, who reportedly holds a concealed carry permit, fired a single shot.

Graham was rushed to the hospital but later died. Another man at the scene was seriously injured as well, but the only details investigators released were that his wounds were not life-threatening.

The fatality is regrettable, but the good neighbor deserves high praise for immediately recognizing the severity of the situation and being armed and ready to step in.

Without his firearm, the bloodied victim may not have survived.

And the good news got even better on Wednesday when the Wake County District Attorney’s Office announced that the good guy with a gun would not face charges for defending an innocent victim.

Authorities combed through witness statements, video, and physical evidence before deciding that charges were not appropriate. After all, what the neighbor did in reaction to seeing another person under a potentially lethal assault is textbook for a Good Samaritan.

He didn’t stop to consider whether the victim was part of any classifications or groups he himself belonged to. He acted as we all hope we would in similar circumstances.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
