It defies logic that a guaranteed constitutional freedom must be defended tooth and nail against radical opponents, but that’s where the Second Amendment stands in America in 2026.
Now comes word from The Reload that those who would strip the right to keep and bear arms down to a shell of what the Founders intended–if not erase it altogether–are far ahead in spending for the looming November midterms.
How far?
2A opponents have millions in campaign cash left to spend
The gun rights outlet cited Federal Election Commission records revealing that Everytown for Gun Safety, Giffords, and Brady hauled in almost $18.8 million to sway voters in this election cycle.
For the National Shooting Sports Foundation, National Rifle Association, and the National Association for Gun Rights, that combined number is $5.8 million. Second Amendment opponents thus far have outspent supporters by $9.7 million to $3.8 million.
So, roughly 3-to-1.
Gun rights opponents are also sitting on over $13 million in funds ready to deploy in the days leading up to the midterm elections. In the latest report, 2A supporters had about $3.8 million on hand.
Dollars count in every election, and gun rights supporters are trailing
If dollars didn’t sway elections, they wouldn’t be spent.
Too many Americans get their views from soundbites, the deluge of TV ads, and even TikTok. These figures show a massive outpouring of spending by groups who believe they can gain the upper hand in Washington and roll back fundamental freedoms.
It’s easy to tell who the genuine Second Amendment supporters are and the wolves masquerading in sheep’s clothing. Their voting records on key issues and support from anti-gunners tell far more than posing with a shotgun and a dog trying to convince Americans that they back gun rights.
No party or individual has a monopoly on supporting the constitutional right to armed self-defense, so it is doubly important to brush aside campaign rhetoric and determine who is in the people’s corner.
And that’s where dollars should go.
