A Michigan homeowner found himself in a hot mess on Christmas evening when an alleged armed intruder arrived with a firearm and an apparent vendetta.
The holidays are a time of religious observances, family gatherings, and gift exchanges. It is not supposed to be a period when good people have to be on guard against violent criminals, but that’s the world we live in.
Two Michigan residents got a surprise Christmas evening
The Fowler man was enjoying the holiday at about 7 p.m. when he and a female in his residence were surprised by the armed intruder. It was later determined that the alleged invader was the estranged husband of the woman, and he reportedly came in firing.
The resident was struck twice but was able to return fire, hitting and killing the suspect.
When the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department arrived, they found the deceased alleged intruder and the homeowner suffering from what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

He was rushed to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor for treatment of his wounds. The woman who may have been the target was uninjured.
Psychologists might one day determine exactly what can cause a person in a dying relationship to lose their senses, but until then, it happens with alarming regularity. Perhaps their violent tendencies were the reason the partner decided to move on, but the jilted party, at times, does not respond well.
Being attacked on Christmas Day at home was certainly not what the two people at the residence should have encountered, but it happened. Yet again, the presence of a firearm likely saved lives and prevented a vicious attack from being even worse.
It’s always the season to be safe from violent predators, and a legal and ready firearm is one of the surest ways to accomplish that.
