When a criminal decides to enter another person’s home without an invitation, they assume responsibility for what follows. Despite the lamentations of anti-gunners who want to disarm the public, the result could very well be a hail of gunfire.
An alleged California home invader rolled the dice and lost in Rancho Cordova Thursday night.
Suspect reportedly was warned multiple times to leave, but he refused
According to investigators, the unidentified 25-year-old suspect tried to break into the residence at around 9:15 p.m. when two people were home. The adult male and female present called emergency services and repeatedly told the man to go.
He did not and reportedly told the frightening individuals multiple times that he would kill them. Then he allegedly broke out a window and gained entry.
Without the presence of a ready weapon, his threat may have come true. But the residents were prepared, and at least one shot was fired at the alleged intruder.
California residents thankful today for a readily available firearm
When Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, they found the wounded suspect and rendered medical assistance. The injuries were apparently not serious, as he was treated at a hospital before authorities booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
Charges include felony burglary and making threats to commit a crime resulting in death or great bodily injury. At last report, he was being held on $100,000 bail.
While California’s substantial roster of Second Amendment opponents continues to whittle away at gun rights, law-abiding citizens still protect themselves with firearms.
That is what many lawmakers fail to understand and why they radically oppose an armed populace. The people in the Rancho Cordova home last week are a prime example of the positive outcomes that can result when people are their own first responders.
