It is ill-advised to attempt to rob a business establishment that was struck by criminals recently. There is a good chance the proprietors upgraded their defense capabilities and are much more alert to trouble.
This was the lesson learned by Nixzon Eduardo Garcia-Carrillo of Shelby, North Carolina, on Friday night. He was fortunate to escape with only a wounded foot.

The family store in question was hit by another robbery three weeks ago, and the perpetrators got away with $86,000. The co-owner, Suri Sarai Ake, told investigators that her family was frightened by the earlier incident and took steps to avoid a repeat.
One of the owners was sitting in the parking lot guarding the premises when Garcia-Carrillo allegedly attempted to rob the store. He told local media, “I didn’t wait or nothing. I started shooting.”
The alleged attacker was armed, but it was later discovered that he only had a toy gun. An accomplice slipped away and is being sought.
Officials have decisions to make concerning the suspect
The suspect, now suffering a foot injury, fled the scene but was apprehended later by Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputies following a short chase. Investigators revealed that Garcia-Carrillo is a Honduran national facing an active immigration removal order.
Now, however, he faces numerous criminal charges. They include attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and other infractions.
The store owner’s wife told reporters that the family worries that Garcia-Carrillo may be deported instead of being made to face the consequences of the attempted robbery. If this happens, they believe he could slip back across the border and pose another threat.
They are also concerned about the second suspect and will undoubtedly remain armed and ready. No charges were filed against the store’s courageous defenders.
