Handling disappointment when things don’t go your way is an incredibly valuable life skill that can do wonders for your prospects for a happy and successful future.
Then there’s the noisy anti-Second Amendment lobby. While they put on the face of level-headed reasonableness to the media and public, the truth is far different when their agenda is interrupted by freedom-loving civil libertarians.
Last week, Everytown for Gun Safety had an internal meltdown over the extensive reforms enacted at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
Gun rights opponents believe the ATF’s job is to crush the weapons industry
Everytown’s Greg Lickenbrock complained in The Smoking Gun, the outfit’s internal newsletter, that ATF Director Robert Cekada was surrounded by gun rights advocates when he recently signed the order revamping his agency. He somehow concluded that “the rules are clearly designed to benefit the gun industry.”
As opposed to benefiting violent criminals and the misguided politicians who place their well-being over the safety of the law-abiding public.
Everytown obviously opposes efforts to reform the ATF
Lickenbrock went on to bemoan the new reality that FFLs are allowed to ship a weapon directly to a paying customer without the purchaser having to appear in the retail storefront.
He tellingly expressed his strong dislike for the ATF-estimated 3.28 million prospective firearm purchasers who would choose this option. It is critical to note that these buyers undergo the same federal background check requirements, only without leaving their homes.
Lickenbrock rather humorously tried to argue that the ATF’s proposed Form 4473 changes would result in more illegal straw purchases. Two questions are up for removal.
The purchaser must identify their biological gender and read an explanation of the federal marijuana prohibition. That’s it. How that will inspire millions to try to defraud the ATF is anyone’s guess because Lickenbrock did not or could not elaborate.
