Political leaders who oppose gun rights are strangely reluctant to give up their private security and guard details. Apparently, they do not trust the ability of social workers to handle violent threats—when they are aimed at themselves.
A Fox News report highlighted this brazen hypocrisy and focused on the outrageous spending habits of a southern senator who railed against the Second Amendment.
Politicians who oppose gun rights typically rely on firearms for their personal safety
From January through December of this year, Sen. Raphael Warnock’s (D-GA) re-election campaign spent a staggering $360k on private security.
A cool $40k per month to keep the esteemed representative safe from any and all harm. And while there’s nothing inherently wrong with security for public figures, it screams a double standard when the protected party wants to eradicate gun rights for everyone else.
Warnock’s camp utilize Atlanta-based Executive Protection Agencies, LLC to keep the senator safe. The firm provides both armed and unarmed services, though $40k a month seems extravagant for unarmed protection.
The anti-2A senator is the most egregious spender on private security
To put Warnock’s spending habits into perspective, he outpaced every other Congressional member in 2021, with over $605,000 shelled out for that year alone. Fox calculated that the senator’s campaign spent over $2.7 million on private security services since December 2020.
The outlet noted that while enjoying first-class protection, the first-term Georgia politician grandstands against gun rights for average Americans.
Among his questionable stands are “co-sponsoring legislation to ban assault weapons and require universal background checks, voting for federal red flag laws, supporting stricter penalties for those who purchase firearms from sellers not legally allowed to do so, and stricter licensing requirements for sellers.”
Gun rights for me, but not for thee.
