No sooner than the ink dried on Wednesday’s welcome Department of Justice (DOJ) announcements rolling back gun rights infringements did the anti-Second Amendment lobby recoil in horror.
Long-overdue adjustments to federal gun policy angered The Brady Campaign, which declared the White House tried to “fulfill the gun industry’s wishlist.”
Organization President Kris Brown believes enhancing personal freedoms will make America less safe.
Critics believe gun ownership—not criminals—drives the crime rate
“For the past four years, the U.S. has been experiencing historic declines in gun crime and homicides—driven by historic investments in violence prevention, evidence-based strong gun policies, and efforts to hold the gun industry accountable,” Brown claimed. “In continuing to roll back or weaken those policies that have kept us safe, Trump and his administration are putting communities at risk in ways that no other industrialized country experiences.”
A lot to unpack from this audacious statement.
Blaming the Second Amendment for criminal acts is patently dishonest
First of all, it is laughable that anti-gunners want to take credit for crime dropping after it reached historic highs during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Exactly how did radical attacks on the firearms industry, which supplies desperately needed self-defense goods, suppress crime?
And why isn’t violent crime exploding in the dozens of states that enacted constitutional carry? Surely the streets run with blood in these misguided locations that respect the Second Amendment.
Only, they don’t. In fact, these are some of the safest places to live in the Union.
Acting DOJ Director Todd Blanche had a markedly different take on the controversy. “Going back to the Reagan administration, the gun industry takes two steps forward. And then [gun rights opponents] take us eight steps back. We’re not going to take two steps forward. We’re going to go forward a mile.”
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
