Word will spread at some point that it is unwise to break into another person’s home in the U.S. With hundreds of millions of firearms in law-abiding citizens’ hands and a nation fed up with violent crime, the odds are increasingly against unannounced intruders.
An Arizona man apparently paid for his own bad decision Sunday night with his life when a hail of bullets struck him after allegedly forcing his way into a Buckeye residence.
Stranger made a fatal mistake Sunday night when he allegedly chose the wrong home to target
According to reports, a woman and her two adult children were startled by the sound of someone banging on their door just before 9 p.m. That’s when 27-year-old Michael Diaz allegedly tried to force his way into the home.
The Buckeye Police Department reported that a man present when the attack unfolded “retrieved a handgun and went to the door just as the intruder broke through the security door and stepped inside.”
Multiple rounds struck Diaz, and he went down. The suspect died at the scene.
The dead suspect may have targeted other homes
No injuries were reported to the occupants of the house, and investigators believe they did not know the suspect. A neighbor told local media that two nights earlier, they encountered a man who tried to get into their home as well.
“I feel bad for the family that had to endure this, and I feel bad for someone who didn’t take the responsibility of realizing you don’t go into people’s homes,” CeCe Lopez told reporters.
She did not answer the door on Friday night when a man wearing a hoodie knocked, and then on Sunday, he returned and knocked again. “It was about the same time. Our dogs went crazy again,” Lopez recalled.
Her husband went to the door and stepped outside, but the stranger was gone.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
