Australia’s PM: Firearms to be ‘Collected and Destroyed’

It is still surprising how misguided officials react to violent tragedies.

So little attention is paid to the perpetrators and their twisted ideologies and obvious mental health issues. Instead, anti-gun lawmakers take advantage of the shocking incidents to ram through utterly useless gun control that does nothing to prevent further attacks.

This is the exact scenario playing out in Australia.

Officials target terrorism by restricting law-abiding citizens

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declared on Friday that his government will enact a mandatory buyback scheme. This announcement came in the wake of the previous weekend’s terrorist attack at world-famous Bondi Beach that killed 15 Hanukkah celebrants and injured dozens more.

“We know that one of these terrorists held a firearm license and had six guns, in spite of living in the middle of Sydney’s suburbs,” Albanese said. “There’s no reason why someone in that situation needs that many guns.”

The PM further claimed that the forced buyback would go after “surplus, newly banned, and illegal firearms.”

Terrorists and violent criminals will not be disarmed by more stringent gun control

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett echoed that misguided sentiment. “If you’re going to reduce the number of guns, then a buyback scheme has to be a piece of that puzzle.”

Law-abiding Aussies are all too familiar with this playbook. After the 1996 Port Arthur massacre that killed 35, the nation enacted an oppressive gun control confiscation program that disarmed hundreds of thousands of law-abiding citizens.

However, officials now believe that there are more firearms in Australia in late 2025 than there were at the time of the mass shooting almost three decades ago.

The government will impose a new limit on firearms held by an individual, restrict licensing even further and limit holding a permit to Australian citizens only, and make an undetermined number of weapons illegal.

There will also be a new push for a national firearms registry, something Second Amendment organizations and U.S. gun enthusiasts continually warn against.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
