An impressive roster of Second Amendment supporters in the U.S. House recently signed a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Their goal? The nearly two dozen representatives asked the Trump administration to eliminate the controversial National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA).
The hated and inexplicable $200 tax was cancelled by the White House’s budget bill this year. Still, the skeletal remains of the NFA are in place as further roadblocks between law-abiding citizens and gun ownership.
Without the eliminated tax, the NFA outlived its usefulness (If it ever had any)
The letter explained, “We wish to reaffirm that it was our intent, in enacting Section 70436 of that Act [One Big Beautiful Bill], to repeal the transfer and registration requirements under the National Firearms Act by eliminating the associated excise tax for certain firearms.”
The House members then laid out their request for the Trump Administration.
“Accordingly, we urge the Department of Justice to adopt the position of the drafters of this provision: that the transfer and registration requirements cannot stand without the corresponding excise tax. We further urge the Department to assert this position in all litigation concerning this specific section of the OBBBA.”
Senators passed on their previous opportunity to eliminate the NFA
This latest push in favor of expanded Second Amendment freedoms is led by Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA). He is a staunch supporter of gun rights and a Georgia FFL holder.
He notes that the House majority agreed to eliminate suppressors and short-barreled rifles from the NFA, but the Senate only scratched the $200 tax. Whether he and his colleagues will be successful in dumping the NFA for good remains to be seen, but it’s a great time to contact lawmakers and express your support for this move.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
