Minnesota’s Anti-Second Amendment Circus Hits the Road

If at first you don’t succeed because voters disapprove of your agenda, redefine success and hit the road to convince people that your goals are theirs.

That’s Minnesota officials’ apparent reaction after pro-gun rights lawmakers blocked Gov. Tim Walz’s (D) push for a special legislative session to ram even more gun control through. The former vice presidential candidate switched to a series of town hall events.

Only, these are not the “town halls” that are part of the bedrock of American democracy.

These events are as far from a legitimate ‘town hall’ as possible

Instead, approximately 800 people were selected for the first night after submitting to a screening process. Can’t have anyone who values the right to keep and bear arms besmirch the “open” gathering.

These pre-screened individuals could ask only questions that were already approved—hardly a constitutional exercise in the free exchange of ideas.

In other words, pure political theater.

Minnesota already has laws in place to thwart local gun control

Fortunately for those Minnesotans who cherish their personal freedoms, the state has a powerful preemption law in place. This statute prevents local governments from enacting the kind of draconian anti-gun policies that are only too familiar in the nation’s largest cities.

For example, St. Paul officials recently floated a proposal that would ban popular sporting rifles, standard-capacity magazines, and the creation of hobby weapons within city limits.

This is just more theater, as the state’s preemption statute would immediately shoot down the law. It was crafted to take effect only if the preemption law is repealed, showing the true folly of such posturing.

Walz and his anti-gun cronies may bask in the applause they receive from these chosen audience members, but they do not represent the shooting community. There is no open debate and clearly no recognition of the plain text of the Second Amendment.

It’s only a show.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
