Dozens of top cops are standing up to radical anti-gunners by forming the Missouri Sheriffs’ Constitutional Firearm Alliance (MSCFA). The new organization is committed to promoting gun safety in the state while upholding Second Amendment rights for law-abiding citizens.
Leaders want to stymie anti-gunners from encroaching on gun rights
The effort is spearheaded by Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, the MSCFA president. He declared that federal officials are actively seeking to destroy the Second Amendment through government control.
“This alliance brings together sheriffs from across our great state who are committed to protecting not just public safety, but constitutional liberty,” Degase told a press conference. “We believe these two goals go hand in hand. In fact, public safety cannot truly exist where the rights of the people are ignored.”
The sheriff emphasized that the organization plans to be a buffer between the good people and government overreach.
Sheriffs are in a unique position to defend the Constitution
Degase noted that sheriffs are the only elected law enforcement officials in the U.S., and that makes them uniquely answerable to the public. This puts special emphasis on their duty “to uphold and defend the Constitution, not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s under pressure.”
The group’s Mission Statement promises “to defend the Constitution, protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens, support communities through education and unite Missourians around the shared values of freedom, responsibility, and justice—through fearless leadership and unwavering service.”
Degase believes that communication and cooperation are key to a successful effort across agencies to defend gun rights. The MSCFA is a novel approach that should be adopted nationwide.
