Gun control radicals score the occasional legal victory despite the best efforts of Second Amendment organizations—and the Constitution. When this unfortunate scenario materializes, these anti-gunners seek to build on their limited success quickly.
The latest example came Monday when Everytown for Gun Safety Chief Legal Counsel Eric Tirschwell sent a legal letter to Strum, Ruger & Co.
This follows Glock’s announcement that it will cease production of many of its most popular handgun models amid a flurry of lawsuits and safety concerns.
Anti-gunners believed they won a significant victory when Glock announced its production changes
“Ruger faces a choice following Glock’s recent announcement,” Tirschwell declared. “Will it continue to sell the RXM despite the evidence of its ease of convertibility to an illegal machine gun, or will it put public safety first?”
Criminals used so-called “Glock switches” to convert certain Glock models to fully automatic functionality. Despite this action already being illegal under federal law, multiple anti-2A government entities filed suit against the gunmaker.
This led to the discontinuation of several Glock pistols, and Everytown wants to duplicate that success by going after the U.S. gunmaker.
Everytown lacked one key piece of evidence in its letter to Ruger
In this latest attack on the firearm industry, Everytown claimed that the new RMX handgun is susceptible to illegal modification similar to what was common with Glock pistols.
Incredibly, the legal letter could not cite a single instance of a modified Ruger being recovered after a criminal act.
And again, using a device to modify handguns to achieve automatic functionality is quite illegal, and Everytown knows this. While critics charge that the letter to Ruger was in the public interest, mere modifications are not the goal of these anti-gunners.
They want to suppress the constitutionally protected weapons industry to the point of suffocation and ultimately bankruptcy.
Once this reality is realized, actions by Everytown and their cronies are easily understood.
