Irony is alive and well in 2025, and a great example of this universal humor came this week from a notorious gun control organization.
Everytown for Gun Safety announced its new “Train Smart” program. Incredibly, this is the anti-gun group’s initiative to instruct gun owners on how to handle their weapons in their homes and beyond.
Only, consider the source.
Everytown’s track record of opposition to gun rights is hardly a secret
Everytown is backed by gun rights opposing billionaire Michael Bloomberg and champions a plethora of anti-Second Amendment initiatives.
These include the outright ban of sweeping categories of weapons, the establishment of government firearm registries, prohibiting young adults from legally owning guns, egregious waiting periods, and so much more.
What’s next? Liquor stores hosting AA meetings?
Retailers and ranges continue to be the best option for training
Everytown’s Greg Lickenbrock recently presented the Train Smart program to a gathering attended by National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) representatives. He quickly fell back on the trope of being “a gun owner too,” even though he represented a group hoping to eradicate gun rights.
Train Smart will encompass multiple segmented lessons that begin with “facts about gun ownership.” Again, this would not be remotely controversial were it not for the source.
The NSSF and every responsible Second Amendment organization are on the front lines of gun safety training. Firearm owners understand better than anyone the importance of properly handling and storing a weapon, and they hardly look to Everytown for good advice.
Local retailers and ranges continue to be the best source for learning responsible gun ownership, now and always.
Meanwhile, Everytown is not fooling anyone who supports the right to keep and bear arms. Its solution to every issue is more oppressive gun control, and that has not changed.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
