Shrill anti-gunners would have you believe that protecting the right to keep and bear arms will result in violence and blood running in the streets. Only, that’s simply not true.
Yet more evidence emerged that upstanding citizens are responsible stewards of their gun rights. King County, Washington, a hotbed of Second Amendment opposition, is the source of the latest data.
The Citizens Committee to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) released a report detailing how violent crime diminished in King County even as concealed carry permit applications rose. And not only in the Seattle area, but nationwide.
2A opponents somehow equate armed self-defense with an increase in criminal violence
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb shattered the familiar fallacy that more guns equal more violence.
“For decades, we have seen one gun control myth after another used as excuses to restrict our Second Amendment rights,” Gottlieb declared. “Yet here we are, when those rights are gradually being restored thanks to strategic court victories, when 29 states have adopted ‘permitless carry laws, when more people own guns, and more people are legally carrying them for personal protection, and the data shows violent crime involving guns is declining. Looks like we’ve been right all along, and the establishment media essentially is confirming it.”
Evidence simply does not support gun rights opponents’ arguments
John Lott built a career highlighting the blatant discrepancies in anti-gunners’ arguments. His advocate group, the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), noted that there are some 21 million U.S. citizens licensed to carry.
And that’s nowhere close to the total. A majority of 29 states do not require good people to crawl to the government for a permission slip to exercise their constitutional rights.
If Lott and millions of 2A advocates were wrong, 2025 would be the Wild West. Instead, violent crime is falling.
