In lieu of ripping the Second Amendment to shreds, which anti-gun lawmakers have not been able to do, they are content for now with legislating the right to keep and bear arms virtually out of existence.
January 1 means new state laws in place nationwide, and of course, there are some that target gun rights. One such infringement sprang from Colorado lawmakers with nothing better to do than harass law-abiding gun show operators.
Anti-gunners are staunchly opposed to community gun shows
Many 2A opponents are horrified by these familiar gatherings. These celebrations of fundamental freedoms go against everything anti-gunners stand for.
Thanks to the Colorado cabal, those under 18 can no longer attend these events without a parent or guardian. One would be hard-pressed to find logic in this law, as these happenings are certainly not havens for unaccompanied youth.
And then the latest Colorado infringement gets even worse.
Lawmakers dug deep into their wishlist to concoct this new law
To operate a gun show in the Centennial State, organizers must now submit detailed security plans to local law enforcement officials. As if the events are not some of the safest places a person could ever be.
All entrances and exits must be monitored, and there must also be video surveillance of these as well as the gun show parking area. Organizers must purchase liability insurance, and mandatory notices must be posted on the premises.
Further, only federally licensed firearm dealers may participate in gun shows as a vendor. This will have a chilling effect on smaller productions and could squeeze these events off the calendar.
First violations are class 2 misdemeanors, which elevate to class 1 on a second offense. Any promoter guilty of a second offense is banned from organizing a gun show in Colorado for five years.
Laws such as this are contrived to suppress Second Amendment rights. Without question, no other freedom guaranteed by the Bill of Rights is subjected to such disrespect.
