Former vice presidential candidate and current governor of Minnesota Tim Walz (D) took the chance last week to blast lawmakers for failing to react to the Annunciation Catholic School shooting in the manner he believes they should.
Second Amendment advocates know that targeting lawful gun owners after a lunatic goes on a rampage accomplishes nothing.
But that did not stop Walz from voicing his displeasure with the current legislative standoff.

“I guess there is a line in the sand,” Walz bemoaned. “I was told by Republican leadership that there would never be a vote on guns, there wouldn’t be a vote on gun bans.”
Of course. There are no compromises to be reached when it comes to protecting fundamental constitutional rights, and the Second Amendment is hardly second-class.
Walz wants a high-profile emergency session of the legislature to ram through reactionary gun control bills. He knows he lacks the support necessary to make a significant change, so the governor spoke out against gun rights advocates.

Remember, anti-gun state Sen. Zaynab Mohamed (DFL) called for a total ban on .50 caliber firearms, even though a completely different weapon was used in the Minneapolis attack.
Obviously, there is no genuine concern with addressing the mental health issues plaguing so many in 2025. Lawmakers look to score cheap political points with their base by targeting inanimate objects and not the violent criminals who misuse them.
Instead, more meaningless restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms are piled upon previous failures—all in the name of doing “something.” That “something,” unfortunately, does not translate into taking bad people off the streets.
