California’s ongoing war with the Second Amendment extends beyond its fight to suppress gun rights. The state decided along the way that, even as it attempted to impede firearm ownership, law-abiding residents also have no need for less lethal self-defense items.
Now, a leading company in this burgeoning sector sued Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) regime over hindering the sales of its products.
Products that deliver strong chemical irritants instead of possibly lethal projectiles. Products that also are legal in all 50 states.
One would think that anti-gunners would get behind less lethal self-defense options
According to Byrna Technologies CEO Bryan Ganz, the Golden State’s misguided laws block sales of his company’s launchers and ammunition.
“It’s easier for a Californian to get a license to carry a lethal weapon than to carry a Byrna with chemical irritant rounds,” Ganz told Fox News Digital. “So, they’re clearly driving some people to purchase lethal weapons. So, I would say that we probably have the support of both people on the right side and the left side of the 2A debate.”
Less lethal weapon options are widely available, but California disapproves
The U.S. Supreme Court clearly established over the past two decades the extension of Second Amendment protections to Tasers and stun guns. Justices ruled in 2008’s monumental Heller decision that arms which were not in existence in the Founding Era are still protected by the Bill of Rights.
A later case involving stun guns reaffirmed the protection of modern weapons.
But not in California.
Newsom’s state bans tear gas and conveniently labels non-lethal chemical irritants in the Byrna products as such.
The company’s products are marketed as having the ability to render a violent criminal incapacitated for as much as 45 minutes. Afterwards, they remain alive with no permanent damage.
Surely this is an attractive alternative for California’s anti-gunners. People would be able to mount an effective defense without lethal force, and millions of potential customers in the state would benefit from this ability.
That is, if lawmakers truly believe the people have the right to defend themselves.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
