It’s a good idea not to be out running around in the dead of night in Chicago, but many people’s occupations and lifestyles leave them with non-traditional schedules.
If you are going to take the risk, it is a great idea to exercise situational awareness and be prepared. Part of that preparation for many law-abiding Americans is to possess a loaded, legal firearm in case of the unexpected.
A Chicago man is well aware of this wisdom today.
Targeted victim faced two suspects armed with at least one firearm
According to Windy City officials, the intended victim was exiting his car at about 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday when two young suspects approached him. One of them produced a firearm, and they demanded that the man hand over his possessions.
The armed Chicago man, who not coincidentally is a concealed carry permit holder, decided on door number two.
The 39-year-old target drew his own weapon and fired, striking a 23-year-old suspect in his legs. Responding officers arrested both him and the second individual, and the wounded party was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
Formal charges have not been announced, but shooter should be in the clear
Despite last year’s historic plunge in violent crime in the U.S., there is still a clear need to be aware of one’s surroundings and stay ready. If criminals target a person, the national crime rate is meaningless to that individual.
Instead, they want nothing more than to survive the ordeal and get on with their daily life. The Chicago man undoubtedly did not expect to be accosted in the middle of the night, but he would have been defenseless without the ready firearm.
For that, he and countless others are thankful today.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
