Sometimes the enemy charges through the front gate with trumpets blasting and a sound and fury that will never be mistaken for anything but a dire threat.
Other times, however, he comes as a thief in the night looking for a backdoor entrance into where he should not be.
For Pennsylvania’s sizable Second Amendment community, the second scenario played out recently as anti-gunners attempted to use backhanded legislation to usurp the right to keep and bear arms. Gun Owners of America (GOA) saw through the deception and issued a strong warning to those who value their fundamental freedoms.

The advocacy group warned of HB 2018, which would form the “Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board.” This noble-sounding creation is to be empowered to serve as an authority that expands and coordinates information between government entities—and to make policy recommendations.
Who believes it will not demand more gun control and even confiscation?
The GOA noted that its goals will likely include enacting more stringent background checks, expanding surrender rules, and establishing more “red flag” laws that all but ignore due process.

GOA President Val Finnell cautioned in the state alert that the proposal results in a system that could easily be weaponized against law-abiding gun owners.
“This bill creates a centralized data-analysis apparatus that can later be used to argue that ‘system failures’ include gun confiscation, that background checks are insufficient, that PFA firearm surrender rules should be expanded, and that Red Flag Gun Confiscation Orders are ‘necessary.’”
Authorized review teams and the state board would be charged with recommending “changes in legislation, regulations, and policies.” Unsaid but clearly understood is that these changes will almost certainly infringe on gun rights.
