For a Texas man in the dark hours of Sunday morning, having a ready firearm stopped a potentially lethal encounter in its tracks.
Intended victim heard the unmistakable sounds of breaking glass
According to Houston authorities, the suspect wrecked his vehicle in the neighborhood just before 2 a.m. For reasons unknown, he allegedly jumped a fence, ran to a nearby house, and forced his way inside.
The homeowner was undoubtedly startled by the sound of shattering glass on the residence’s door. Lt. Khan of the Houston Police Department told reporters that the occupant was ready for the unexpected.
“The homeowner was awake and alert and saw the suspect had illegally entered his home,” the officer explained. “He then produced a firearm from inside his house and ended up striking the suspect one time.”
Suspect is fortunate to get away with his life after alleged home invasion
First responders took the unidentified suspect to a hospital for treatment of what was reported as a non-life-threatening injury. Investigators quickly determined that the frightening encounter was as random as it was sudden and that the two men did not know each other.
Whatever was going on with the suspect in the middle of the night is unknown, but he made a terrible mistake when he allegedly broke into the house. It was a miscalculation that could have cost him his life.
