For better or worse, artificial intelligence is here to stay. And while some movie aficionados anxiously await Skynet’s arrival and the subjugation of the human species, hopefully, that can be avoided.
It is not good news, however, when anti-Second Amendment radicals decide to lean on AI to bolster weak arguments and eradicate gun rights. That’s the tactic now employed by the billionaire Michael Bloomberg-bankrolled Everytown for Gun Safety, and it deserves closer scrutiny.
Group wants to lean on AI for what are obvious ‘solutions’
The organization recently rolled out the “Everytown Evidence Engine,” innocuously nicknamed E3. Its stated purpose is to deploy AI to develop “efficient systems for analysis [that] can lead to new questions and new answers in the field of gun violence prevention research.”
New questions and new answers indicate that anti-2A forces are desperately searching for more effective ways to spread their dogma and suppress gun rights.
And this is going to come from AI?
Everytown’s AI system has only one possible answer to the question of criminal violence
These platforms are built on Claude and Anthropic, which recently shredded whatever confidence they had built through a string of missteps.
In a contradictory news release, Everytown tried to paint current events as a “crisis” that somehow AI will solve. They claimed the technology “holds promise for more readily understanding how gun safety laws have shaped patterns of gun violence.”
The group declared: “The scale of this crisis is staggering and calls for the deep inquiry and urgent advancement of solutions that can meaningfully address this public health crisis, including the critical role of gun laws.”
Does any reasonable person believe that AI, which exists through human input, is going to conclude anything except that the Second Amendment is a scourge on American society?
It is a safe bet that solutions such as stopping the insane revolving door that passes for the justice system will not get a fair hearing. That would point damning fingers at those who truly have the power to keep violent criminals off the streets.
