Does any levelheaded person believe that violent radicals will surrender their weapons for a check? Apparently, some in Australia do, as the government’s latest response to last December’s Bondi Beach terror attack is to lure the people into giving up “excess” firearms.
Fifteen people were killed at a Jewish Festival in New South Wales (NSW), and that’s where the buyback scheme will be held.
To be clear, who is the judge of how much a free person should own of anything?
Authorities believe disarming the population will prevent another terror attack
NSW officials announced that handing over these “excess” firearms will get the owner up to AUS$1,000 starting November 2. In 2027, turning in a weapon valued at over AUS$3,000 would net the citizen up to AUS$10,000.
All under the guise of getting guns “off the streets.” A good guy with a gun could have ended Bondi Beach quickly and saved many lives, but according to government authorities, these folks need to be disarmed.
With a price tag in the hundreds of millions.
Critics charge ‘buyback’ is case of misplaced priorities
NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane told an Australian news outlet that leaders are at best misguided and more likely intellectually dishonest with their scheme.
“I can tell you that the real enemy is not the farmer, and it is not the law-abiding shooter from Sydney’s west, that is not the real enemy,” Sloane declared. “You’ve got to be absolutely kidding yourself if you think that criminals, organized criminals, the people shooting up our streets in southwest Sydney, or that would-be terrorists are going to walk into a cop shop and hand over their guns.”
She added that the plan is “a joke.”
Not so, according to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. “We must do everything we can to make sure the antisemitic terrorist attack in Bondi doesn’t happen again. That include meaningful nationwide gun reform.”
Australia already has tight controls on private firearms, and that obviously did nothing to deter the demented shooter. Taking guns out of law-abiding citizens’ hands will only make the population more vulnerable to similar violence.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
