Nadia Mohamed (D) is Minnesota’s first Somali American mayor, an accomplishment to be sure. Her approach to the growing gang problem in St. Louis Park and other Twin Cities areas tells another story.
It’s not about stepping up patrols, putting more officers on the street, or organizing a community task force to throw possible solutions against the wall and see which sticks. And it’s certainly not stopping the revolving door of justice that keeps putting bad actors back into neighborhoods.
Her idea is to rip the Second Amendment out of the Bill of Rights and leave law-abiding residents defenseless against criminals who will certainly not go along.
If the answer is to ban firearms, the wrong question is being asked
“A crime is a crime is a crime,” Bearing Arms quoted the mayor as she discussed criticism of her city’s exploding issue with Somali gangs. “But what the rhetoric you are pushing, at best is irresponsible; at worst is dangerous.”
Mohamed asked those present how “effective” conversations that “actually get something done” will happen.
“The answer is easy,” she concluded. “Ban guns.”
Mayor’s approach to crime is at best naive
That’s it. Make firearms magically disappear, and crime-ridden areas will suddenly flow with milk and honey. Go door-to-door and confiscate the people’s primary means of self-defense, and bad people will see the light and change their ways.
At best, it’s naive.
At worst, it demonstrates an alarming view of the U.S. Constitution by an elected official who should know better. The Bill of Rights is not for sale, and the Founders ensured that eradicating fundamental freedoms would be a monstrous task on a scale that would safeguard liberty,
But this mayor, and there are far too many in her position who concur, sees the amendments as a salad bar where they can pick and choose which they uphold and which they pretend doesn’t exist.
Whatever the solution, it doesn’t disarm good people. That’s just a free pass for gangs and anyone else with bad intentions to prey on others.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
