New Jersey officials last week took an ominous step in their attack on Glock firearms, and the National Rifle Association (NRA) quickly denounced the move as a partisan overreach that violates the Constitution and federal law.
The NJ Attorney General’s office sent notices to FFLs across the state demanding that these businesses turn over purchaser records. Why is this important when the state already collects data through its pistol-permitting system?
Now, gun owners’ private business would be public record.
New Jersey already has the information it subpoenaed from FFLs
NRA-ILA Executive Director John Commerford declared that state officials needlessly target upstanding gun businesses for information the government already has.
“Subpoenaing law-abiding firearm dealers to help build a state gun registry is unconstitutional and utterly outrageous,” Commerford explained. “If New Jersey believes it can trample the Second Amendment and federal law with impunity, they are gravely mistaken. The NRA will not stand idly by while progressive politicians attempt to implement this dangerous, Orwellian scheme to dox, track, and harass honest, law-abiding Americans.”
Doxxing has consequences ranging from irritation to life-threatening
The NRA and all Second Amendment advocates know that New Jersey’s demand is nothing more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Glock owners are being dragged into the New Jersey lawsuit against the company, which is ridiculously based on the public nuisance law. Officials well know that putting such sensitive information out to the public about private gun owners is doxxing—and dangerous.
There are far too many Americans in 2026 who believe that the way to settle a political argument is through violence. It is hardly far-fetched to believe that this information will be used nefariously against law-abiding New Jersey residents.
Anti-gunners are infatuated with firearm registries for one simple reason. They know that the existence of such lists will be quite handy if or when there is a confiscation effort.
That’s why these lists must be fought at every level.
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
