The latest scheme by anti-gunners, even as the U.S. Supreme Court and Department of Justice warm to the concept of Second Amendment rights, is to go after homemade weapons.
For centuries, skilled craftsmen and women used generational knowledge to produce their own firearms. However, in 2026, new technology opened the door for more such creativity through 3-D printing, and there’s predictable pushback from the usual quarters.
Roster of states restricting 3D-printed weapons is expanding
There are now at least 16 states that have imposed restrictions on 3D-printed firearms to varying degrees. California pushed further by requiring the printer industry to include components in their products that prevent firearm printing.
As one would expect, New York is a ringleader in this latest assault on Second Amendment rights. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg told ABC7 that these 3D products are in the same category as counterfeiting paper currency.
“We’re going to put technology in our machines such that they will not be a 3D gun,” Bragg said. “Much like, you know, we don’t have, you know, commercial printers that print US currency.” Right.
Arguments against this modern technology fall short
Of course, these modern-day Luddites celebrate each legislative victory and continue to pursue more.
Everytown for Gun Safety spun the issue into one of protecting young people from this obviously heinous technology. It’s uncertain how many minors have the funds or unfettered access to 3D printing, but that is already quite illegal and should be.
The outfit even warned that students could produce these weapons on school printers. That is a smoke screen and nothing more.
No, this expanding effort is aimed at law-abiding adults. There are too many critics jumping on this bandwagon without a first thought for Second Amendment rights.
Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) senior director of legal operations William Sack rebutted anti-gunners’ arguments with a simple but powerful fact. “The gun is not the problem. The individual committing the crime is the problem.”
There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
