US Rep. Proposes Total Ban on Firearm Suppressors

First things first. The Hollywood portrayal of suppressors as accessories that make a gunshot sound like a butterfly’s wings is simply false. And only on the big screen will you hear them referred to as silencers, which they clearly are not.

They do, however, work wonderfully to lower the firearm’s report to non-threatening levels.

This is common knowledge to the sporting public, which currently possesses more than two million of these accessories. But it’s apparently news to Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ).

Anti-gunners are at least proficient at beating dead horses

The lawmaker reintroduced the Help Empower Americans to Respond (HEAR) Act, calling suppressors “tools of murder.” Of course, this comes from someone who likely wouldn’t know a handgun from a hand towel.

“They have no legal application, which is why law enforcement officials around the country have been calling for their elimination,” Watson Coleman claimed. “The HEAR Act will save lives and is part of the commonsense approach to firearms legislation that polls show has widespread support among voters on both sides of the aisle.”

The anti-gunners’ playbook requires that radicals use “commonsense” to describe every effort to nullify the Second Amendment.

Rep. is worried that more Americans are exercising their constitutional rights

Suppressors are perfectly legal under federal law if they are registered, though they are banned in Watson Coleman’s New Jersey home.

Her press release announcing the renewed effort to ban these hearing-protection accessories noted that there were roughly 285,000 suppressors registered in the U.S. in 2010. Now that the number has grown to over two million and the $200 NFA fee has been eliminated, expect suppressors to become even more popular.

This is bad news for anti-Second Amendment forces. Now they are circling the wagons and telling anyone who can hear that suppressors are a menace that must be prohibited.

Rather like their stance on firearms in general, but they haven’t gotten that far.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.
