Someone thought they had the perfect plan. Select a target with plenty of high-end items to steal and hit it in the middle of the day when they would least expect it. The element of surprise was certainly in their favor.
Right up until it wasn’t.
Mob believed it would face cowering workers and customers
On Tuesday at lunchtime, a group of suspected thieves in Lynnwood, Washington, loaded up three vehicles and circled the Medina Jewelers parking lot multiple times before springing their plan. A white Toyota pickup then rammed straight through the front window.
Certainly no one would see that coming.
Glass flew and people scattered in shock at the interruption to their routine day.
But the element of surprise was fleeting, at best. When the suspects poured out of the vehicles–one reportedly carrying an axe–they raced through the broken glass to get their loot and undoubtedly go somewhere and celebrate.
The owner was prepared, and when the suspects rushed through the new storefront, he opened fire.

Security video footage shows a couple of the unlucky robbers got just past the broken window before scrambling back through the opening they had just created. Only a scant few seconds elapsed between the pickup smashing through the front of the building and the owner unloading at the suspects.
Police are currently searching for two vehicles believed to be a black BMW SUV and a silver Toyota or Infiniti sedan, and there was no initial word on the suspects’ identities.
It is also unclear whether the jewelry store owner’s gunfire struck anyone in the group.
What is clear is that the owner, even during lunchtime on what was likely a very ordinary day, wasted no time responding to a violent threat. The brazen attack indicated the suspects were prepared to escalate even further, but armed resistance turned them back.
Leave it to a good guy with a gun to be the hero.
