Colorado’s Anti-2A Forces Now Targeting Gun Barrels

Anyone skeptical of “slippery slope” arguments as they relate to the Second Amendment need look no further than Colorado to see how quickly a state can slide into the abyss.

From its proud history as a sporting paradise, the Centennial State currently races with a few other outliers to see who can most restrict the right to keep and bear arms.

Now, Colorado lawmakers want complete control of metal tubes.

Gun barrels would be treated the same as complete weapons

Senate Bill 26-043 would criminalize selling or transferring a gun barrel to another individual without going through a federally licensed firearms dealer. Violators could receive up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for the first infraction.

All over a basic spare part that thousands of residents switch out regularly. The Colorado State Shooting Association blasted the move as an attack on “constitutionally-guaranteed Second Amendment freedoms.”

The bill would mandate that the licensed dealers record personal information on the buyer, including name, address, phone number, birthdate, and driver’s license number.

Lawmakers claim to battle ‘ghost guns,’ but the numbers tell another story

If passed, the dealer must log details about the barrel and the name of the establishment employee who consummated the transaction and maintain records for five years. But why are Colorado’s anti-gunners now obsessed with barrels?

They claim to fight the scourge of “ghost guns” flooding the streets, but their own data refutes this stance. No more than 3% of firearms confiscated at crime scenes in the state are unserialized, meaning this is a radical solution in search of a problem.

And how will Colorado residents react to this proposal, if it is enacted, to erect yet another barrier for gun owners to navigate? They will simply look to neighboring states that do not obsess over curbing constitutional rights for law-abiding citizens.

Even worse, supporters presented SB 26-043 as an “emergency” measure. This means there will be no ballot initiative to take the issue straight to the voters.

Instead, it only needs to clear the legislature and get Gov. Jared Polis’ (D) signature.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
